One of the most important rivers in Abadan Island has an essential role in water supply of the island is the river which is radiating from the Karun river and leads to the Persian Gulf.Sea water advance issue through the river has been studied since many years ago and the result of these studies was the construction of two dams in upstream and downstream of the river and transforming it into a closed tank with water inlet through the channel is funded and supplied from the Karun River, as well as the construction of a long-term dam to the Karun River, which has been predicted to prevent water loss from Karun to Persian Gulf.
In recent years, due to the severe dehydration of Karun river on the one hand and the influx of saltwater sea to Abadan on the other hand, the city faced the crisis of water salinity, and the necessity of faster execution of dams on the river is evident.Ed..
On the other hand, due to the dependence between the two projects of Dredging river and the irrigation of Abadan Island in the design and implementation of the dams, it is a factor in the construction of these dams and, especially as the construction of the above mentioned dams in dredging project is subject to the implementation of shipping wards and Chen Snapshot the process of studies and implementation of dredging project in Abadan Island and irrigation.There will be a problem of sea water influx to Abadan and the crisis of water quality.
Therefore, with technical and economic surveys, this study, and due to the urgency of the subject and the possibility of rapid prevention of saline water to Abadan, offered its proposal in the form of soil dam implementation in upstream and diversion of Karun water flow.The locating of the dam is considered at a distance of 1500 meters from Karun River.The length of the dam crest is equal to 130 meters.
